The U.S. Special Operations Command includes units from all five branches of the military. The Army Special Forces - informally known as the Green Berets because of their distinctive Army headgear - is responsible for five primary tasks.
These tasks are:

The Army Special Forces are separated into seven groups that are headquartered in different parts of the country and are oriented toward different regions of the world. Members of the Army Special Forces must meet very detailed requirements regarding their age, citizenship, education, aptitude, and training.
