FORT LEAVENWORTH UCMJ LAWYER

PROVIDING AGGRESSIVE REPRESENTATION

Service members accused of military crimes need high-quality, aggressive representation to tell their side of the story. More often than not, allegations levied against hard-working members can be disproved by experienced military criminal defense attorneys with the dedication and skill to get to the root of the issue and build a strong defense. Joseph L. Jordan is a former military prosecutor with over 11 years of experience providing legal services to airmen, soldiers, sailors, marines and coast guardsmen. The Fort Leavenworth court-martial attorney has successfully represented clients in serious crimes such as rape, sodomy, larceny and attempted murder.

AN OVERVIEW OF FORT LEAVENWORTH

Fort Leavenworth is a U.S Army installation located in Leavenworth County, Kansas. It is the oldest continuously active military reservation to the west of the Mississippi River, having been operational for over 180 years. It is considered the army’s intellectual center.

The garrison maintains and manages the home of the U.S Army Combined Arms Center (CAC), and works in a supportive role to the U.S Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC). The mission of CAC includes collective training, leadership development and battle command. The Military Corrections Complex is located in Fort Leavenworth, as are many tenant organizations related directly or indirectly to the CAC. These include the US Army Command and General Staff College, and Foreign Military Studies Office.

Fort Leavenworth is known for its campus-like setting characterized by open, green spaces and a small-town feel. The historical attractions in the area include the Buffalo Soldiers Memorial Park and Frontier Army Museum. The Buffalo Soldiers – who were members of the U.S 10th Cavalry Regiment of the U.S Army - originated at the fort. They were officially formed on 21 September 1866. They served at a variety of posts in south-west USA, participated in the Spanish-American War and fought at World War I’s Battle of Ambos Nogales.

EVENTS AT FORT LEAVENWORTH

The army installation has a busy calendar of events and a great sense of community, which extends to the people of the greater Kansas area. Social gatherings and celebrations such as Halloween trick-or-treat are organized alongside job and education fairs, motorcycle riding courses and spouses club luncheons, to name just a few. Partnerships are also encouraged between military organizations and local civic organizations.

MILITARY CRIMES AT THE FORT

The incidence of military crimes at Fort Leavenworth has been low. We have mostly read about the fort in relation to its high-profile convicts, more notably former soldier Bradley Manning, who is serving time at the United States Disciplinary Barracks based at the fort, for theft, espionage and fraud for leaking classified documents to WikiLeaks. Staff Sgt Robert Bales, serving life imprisonment for killing 16 Afghan civilians, is also lodged at the barracks.

That the military has a strict honor system is a known fact. Certain actions by members – whether committed knowingly or unwittingly – can be viewed seriously by the chain of command. Alleged violations of the UCMJ, or criminal and civil laws can turn a service member’s life upside down. During challenging times, the counsel of a seasoned Fort Leavenworth military criminal defense lawyer can be invaluable.

JOSEPH L. JORDAN IS AN EXPERIENCED FORT LEAVENWORTH COURT MARTIAL ATTORNEY

The army vigorously prosecutes service members accused of infractions. The good news is, defense attorneys can ably support members and explain the why, how and what of the issue to justify actions and compel the court to reconsider charges. Joseph L. Jordan is an experienced at developing a strong defense after extensive investigation, thorough cross-examination and an aggressive approach from the get-go. He is a relentless supporter of army members’ rights and goes the extra mile to win a favorable verdict.
