Any person subject to the UCMJ who is found guilty of an attempt under Article 80 to commit any offense punishable by the UCMJ shall be subject to the same maximum punishment authorized for the commission of the offense attempted.

Offering violence against a superior commissioned officer in time of war may result in death or any punishment directed by a court-martial.
Assaulting or disobeying warrant officers, noncommissioned officers, or petty officers may result in punishments ranging from confinement for several months to dishonorable discharge and confinement for up to 5 years.
Disrespect offenses may also result in forfeitures and confinement.
Violating a lawful general order or regulation may result in dishonorable discharge, forfeiture of all pay and allowances, and confinement for 2 years.
Failure to obey lawful orders or dereliction of duty may result in punishments ranging from forfeitures to confinement and punitive discharge depending on severity and resulting harm.
Wrongful use, possession, manufacture, or introduction of controlled substances may result in dishonorable discharge, forfeiture of all pay and allowances, and confinement ranging from 2 to 5 years depending on the substance involved.
Distribution, manufacture, importation, exportation, or possession with intent to distribute controlled substances may result in confinement ranging from 10 to 15 years along with dishonorable discharge and forfeiture of all pay and allowances.
Certain murder offenses under Article 118 may be punishable by death.

Conviction under Article 125 may result in dishonorable discharge, forfeiture of all pay and allowances, and confinement for life without eligibility for parole.
Aggravated arson may result in dishonorable discharge, forfeiture of all pay and allowances, and confinement for 25 years.
Simple arson and burning with intent to defraud may result in confinement ranging from 5 to 10 years depending on the value of the property involved.
Assault offenses under Article 128 range from simple assault punishable by confinement for 3 months to aggravated assault punishable by dishonorable discharge and confinement for up to 10 years.
Assaults involving firearms, grievous bodily harm, children, spouses, intimate partners, or law enforcement personnel carry enhanced punishments.

The minimum punishment for rape, sexual assault, rape of a child, and sexual assault of a child under Article 120 and Article 120b is a dishonorable discharge or dismissal.
Premeditated murder under Article 118 carries a minimum punishment of life without parole.
Murder committed during certain serious offenses including burglary, rape, robbery, aggravated arson, or sexual assault offenses also carries a minimum punishment of life without parole.
