HISTORY OF HURLBURT FIELD

Hurlburt Field is part of Eglin Air Force Base and was named after First Lieutenant Donald Wilson Hurlburt after he died in a crash at Eglin. The field is headquarters for Air Force Special Operations Command. Hurlburt Field began as a small training field for Eglin Field, which has since become the main base while Hurlburt has grown into an Air Force installation of Eglin.
