Ei Incumbit Probation Qui Dicit.

Proof lies on him who asserts, not on him who denies. The concept is that one is innocent until proven guilty. Regardless of what the law says about reasonable doubt, there is an unwritten presumption within the ranks of the military that if you are charged with sexual assault, then you are guilty. The stakes are your life! Your military counsel works for the same military that charged you. Consider that as you choose who represents you in your potentially life altering case.

A Brief History of Fort Polk

In 1941, Fort Polk began construction. The soldiers stationed at Fort Polk were participants in the Louisiana Maneuvers – large-scale maneuvers that were engineered to test U.S. troops who were preparing for World War II. These maneuvers tested new doctrines that stressed both mass and mobility.

Although Fort Polk was largely a training facility, it also served as a military prison during World War II. The German POWs cut lumber, cut rice, and picked cotton. The prisoners were not forced to work, but those who did earned scrip, with which they could buy toothpaste, snacks, or other necessities.

In 1962, Fort Polk began conversion to an advanced infantry training center. Soldiers trained in a portion of Fort Polk that was filled with dense vegetation, similar to Southeast Asia. Over the next decade, Fort Polk shipped more soldiers to Vietnam than any other American training base.

After the Vietnam War, Fort Polk saw many changes. In the 90’s, the Joint Readiness Training Center moved to Fort Polk. The post again became a preparation base for soldiers headed into conflict.

Present Day Fort Polk

Today, Fort Polk is involved in a land expansion plan that began in 2008. 100,000 acres have been approved, and 47,500 acres have been acquired. The post still hosts the Joint Readiness Training Center, which provides intense and realistic arms training across current and future conflict.
